I attend the University of Georgia as a freshman (in the fall, I will be a sophomore). I am a Biology major and Pre-Medicine. I have done fairly well on my grades, messing up here and there and my first semester I received a 3.3 GPA (its on a 4.0 plus minus system). My second semester I did fairly well except for in General Chemistry II. I received a C for my overall grade in the course. It is available to take over the summer at UGA. Knowing that I will, in turn, buckle down and start to do very well in my next classes, should I re-take it in the summer? It will have both grades shown when medical schools see it but will average my grade point together for my GPA, most likely changing the final to be around a B instead of a C, significantly increasing my GPA. Should I just let it slide, move on and just work hard on the rest of my classes and not re-take it or should I re-take it? I just want to know what would look best for medical schools because I've heard from many people both sides of the argument.
