So... it is nearing the end of November...

I applied to 13 medical schools, I received an II from 1 (my state school - which I would love to go to if accepted). I have not herd back from any of the other 12 schools I applied to (rejections or II's or even status updates). At this point, would it be worth it to send out a mass pile of LOI's or should I not bother. I do have fairly competitive stats, and was complete in the beggining of August.

Side note: If I should send a LOI, what is the best way to do so. If anyone could link to a particular thread that discusses this - it would be much appreciated.

And as for a rant:
Is anyone else in this position? I feel like I was robbed. If I am going to pay over a hundred dollars to submit an application at the school, I deserve to know my status. I don't even mind if I get rejected ext... It just doesn't make sense that every school but my state school has given me the silent treatment. 😡

End rant~

i am not applying this cycle, but i completely understand/agree with your rant.

i would email those schools you haven't heard from and directly ask about your status

of course, be direct but professional and courteous, good luck!

It's November. It's not like the application cycle is over next month.

At this time last year, I hadn't heard anything from 5 schools. I received 4 II's in late November-mid-February. Just because a school doesn't automatically offer you an interview or give you "status updates" doesn't mean you're not being considered at that school. Look into sending LOIs (after checking to make sure your schools accept them...some schools don't) but calm down. There's still time. Also, consider posting your stats and schools you applied to, because maybe there's something else going on instead of just silence on the school end.

I understand your frustrations, I was just there last year, but getting random "status updates" from schools where my application was "still being considered" was just as frustrating as not hearing from schools for 5 months.

Should LOIs be sent via email or snail mail? I'm planning to write some next week...

Some schools have a preference. Go to each school's website and they usually have an Application FAQ section. They can be sent either way, but email is free! They'll print it out and put it in your file.

Great, thanks!
