What should I do? No prereqs

Hey everyone,
I just completed my B.A. in Psychology and I didn't take any Pharmacy prereqs. Is there a program similar to a 0-6 program, but for people that want to take their prereqs after already obtaining a Bachelors degree?
Would you recommend doing a postbacc? My GPA isn't stellar, roughly a 3.3 without any science classes. I plan on getting experience in the field before I take required classes.
Any other comments/suggestions would be appreciated!

I don't know of any program that works like 0+6 for someone with an unrelated BA... you might look into 0+6 programs and see if you can just do that. Probably you'll end up doing community college or something. That's what I did (BA in English in 2004; started pre-reqs in spring 2007 and finished in spring 2008 - four semesters) and it worked out fine for me. If you can do straight As that'll help your GPA, too.

Your best bet is to either do a postbac or take classes at a community college. Make sure you're gaining some kind of experience (i.e. volunteering, shadowing, working if you can find a job in this economy) while you're fulfilling your prereqs.

You're half correct. 0-6 is for high schoolers to look at - an accelerated program.

2+4 is also for high schoolers, but the +4 is always pharmacy school, so it's (whatever)+4 for anyone not looking at 0-6.

I believe charfdorn has the right idea of it. You can complete most of your pre-reqs at a community college. I know several people who have done so and gotten in. If you are going to devote to being a full-time student again in order to get your pre-reqs done and are afraid of getting the community college stigma as so many have posted about, I recommend going to a small public university. I finished the majority of my pre-reqs at a small university where tuition wasn't bad. Of course I had to take some extra loans to do that. I spent 8 grand for 3 semesters so I don't consider that as a bad investment.

I'd suggest completing the pre-requisites at a CC after verifying that your prospective schools won't hold that against you. Once you have schools chosen, start sending e-mails, or calling admissions people, to see what kind of bias, if any, they have toward credits at CC.

Post-bac programs and taking classes through a four-year university are expensive. Unless money is no object, you can just go take them through a community college.

From what I understand and have heard, it really depends what CC you go to and what schools you apply to. I know some major universities with pharmacy schools look at whether the pre-reqs were taken at the university level or the JC level. However other schools dont care where they are taken, some prefer JC classes because they have had previously outstanding students from that specific JC.My advice would be just to buckle down on the required classes and really do well in them. Many schools will only take into consideration your science/math GPA from your pre-reqs. You will probably want to explain why you are changing career paths in your application process as well.

Take the pre-reqs at a CC and do well in those courses...I'm not sure how going from a University to CC will look but that's something you can explain on your interviews...you already have all your gen-eds done so you should be able to finish your pre-reqs in 2 years easy...get some experience, volunteer hrs, and be friendly with your professor's so you can get letters of Rec and you'll be fine.
