Hello Guys. I am a pre-pharmacy major, however, I change to Dental now. I basically finished most of the pre-dental courses at a Community College. However, I read information on the Dental Schools, they mostly required a BS degree. what should I do now? Should i apply to a 4-yare University to get any degree? or what

If the schools say you need it, go get it. 🙂

If the schools say they prefer students with Bachelors degrees, I'd say, go ahead and get one. Do whatever you can to make yourself a more competitive applicant. Good luck.

Yes apply to a 4 year university to get your B.S. I would also reccomend taking all the pre reqs like orgo, gen chem, physics and bio at the 4 year university because most dental schools look down on CC. Good Luck

At Tufts it goes beyond just looking down on CC courses, they insist that ALL of your pre-dental requirements (bio, g chem, o chem, physics, english) are completed at a 4 years college or university.

So call the schools you want to apply to and talk to the admissions office. Find out all the details and then decide. But getting the degree is a good idea.

Are there any other schools like this?

Do they "insist" or "require" you to take all of the prereqs at a university?

isn't 'insist' and 'require' pretty much the same thing? i see a difference between 'require/insist' and 'recommend', but not the former..

Let's just say regarless if it's insist or required, Tufts will not grant you acceptance if you have your pre-recs at a CC, call them to confirm this for yourself.

I guess they have enough competitive applicants that have done their course work at a 4 year college or university.

The word "insist" does seem to leave a room compromise. I just looked at Tufts website and they say that they will NOT accept CC credits. I really should have looked up some of these school's requirements before I applied to them. Looks like I can cross Tufts off my list. BOOHOO 😛
