Okay, so I'm gonna take the MCAT and apply already.

But there is this year of waiting.

I can:

Do the teaching thing for another year, make everyone I work with really happy, volunteer and take some fun science classes on the side (this physiology of psychology class that looks like fun, I'd like to take some more bio classes to make MS1 and 2 easier). I get 50% off tuition for my son and no fees if I stay, even part time.

or:
Get a different job, say try to get a job at a hospital or NIH

or:
apply for an MPH program (would need to apply by April) and start going into debt now. Financially, this would obviously be the worst choice : ) But GWU SOM does give preference to GWU students, so the payoff could be a better shot at admissions there.

Do what you like. Don't worry about impressing adcoms or preparing for MS1.
