Hi All,
So I had a question for the sdn community. Research is a missing piece of my application (I have 3months conservation bio and 3 months working on a senior capstone) and I was recently offered a research position in the lab I am working on my senior project in.

I like the lab and the PI likes me however if I did the research next quarter (my last quarter of college), I would have to come into class 5 days a week (instead of 3) which is a HUGE inconvenience as I have a 4hr round trip commute to classes. I would also have to spend less time on the MCAT studying and quit or take time off from my 2 volunteer jobs that I love. Volunteerism is a large part of my career goals and is something I plan to heavily play up in my app. for next cycle

Do you think an extra 3 months of research is worth the effort or should I try to get my schedule down to 3 days a week and focus on my volunteer project and the MCAT?

Thanks!

I would say that the three months of research is not worth the effort if it means doing better on your MCAT.

No research here. Just started an allopathic program last week. Focus on your MCAT. Three months research won't make up the difference of a poor score.
