So if I don't get in this time around what should I do? It would be my third time applying, so I guess I'm less competitive than first, or second timers. But these are some options I'm thinking of for next year:

1. Apply to an MPH program--my only doubt about this is that I don't want to accumulate a lot of debt prior to med school.

2. Post bac classes--could someone explain this to me? I don't really get what's the purpose besides raising the gpa.

3. Continue research with the physician I'm shadowing and doing research with now.

Please help me improve this list. I got a 32 MCAT, so I don't want to re-take the test, but I'm open to any suggestions at this point.

Thanks a bunch

What are your grades, did you get interview anywhere this year, and how many times have you applied?

neuroscience major
overall gpa 3.47
BCMP gpa 3.67
32 Q MCAT
2nd time applying--got 3 interviews the first time, one interview so far this time. I still don't know if I got in or not--I'll find out in three weeks.

BTW--should I reuse the same primary essay? It'd be my third time applying with the same essay. It's a good one, tho, and I've had it proofed by both med students and peeps on the admissions boards.

I really have a hard time understanding why you didn't make it the second time around with your stats. After your rejection, did you call the school and ask the reason why you were rejected and how you can improve on your application? Some schools wouldn't mind telling you the reason. I wouldn't recommend taking the MCAT again. Possible reasons for rejection could be that you weren't prepare for the interview and the adcom didn't seem impress, applying too narrowly, not too many exciting ECs.... As for post-bac courses, it is meant to raise your gpa, but your gpa looks decent, so I really wouldn't go for it. I don't doubt that your PS would be stellar since you've already have others read over them, but using it three times? You might want to change a couple of things in it, if you're going to reuse the main idea of your essay.

Well, looking at your previous posts, it seems like if you decide to apply next year, you really, really need to apply super early, as applying late did not help you this year. Your gpa and your mcat scores seem to be within the range of acceptability, and unless you have a history of really bad mcat scores, numbers shouldn't be a problem.

However, I do remember seeing that one of the authors of a letter of recommendation wrote something negative about you during one of your application cycles-- has this been taken care of? Because unless this has been dealt with, you're probably never going to get an acceptance. Do you know what it is he/she wrote about you?

Who knows, maybe an MPH would help. Maybe not. But your numbers are probably fine.
