I'm not talking about for diagnosing and dealing with your typical arthritis case. . I'm talking about for diagnosing vasculitis, SLE, scleroderma, etc. ? What are the best skills one needs? Is rheumatology both a science and an art?

And how are rheumatologist general viewed by the other physicians? Do they deal with the stuff no one else knows much about?

since I don't understand the first question I'll say that many of the conditions that Rheum deals with is often called "back of the book" pathology. Most IM docs know of the diseases but are not experts in treating/managing them, especially the flare ups (eg: SLE).
