What SMPs are worthwhile?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I have heard rumors students taking the University of Cincinnati's SMP have good success getting into medical school; however, I have not researched this and have no proof to back it up.

Depends on your desired outcome - if you want to stay at that program or go somewhere else

Heard the same thing but again this is entirely speculation. It appears that the end goal is to attend UCSOM. +1 unless maybe you have your sights set on something else

The University of Cincinnati SMP website is pretty informative and you can find success rates of previous classes. If you have any specific questions regarding the program feel free to PM me.

The University of Cincinnati School of Medicine -- and their SMP -- has been described as non-traditional unfriendly. Their matriculating medical school and SMP cohorts actually don't have many people over age 23-24. Some of this may be anecdotal, and I'm just repeating what I've read online, here, but if you look at the class photos and student descriptions on the SMP website, you'll see what I mean.

Guess thats out then!

The best ones guarantee an interview if you do well in the program, or, possibly even acceptance.

Those seem few and far between compared to previous years. And they also seem kinda hard to get into. Bah! 🙁

Out of curiosity, when do applications for SMPs begin? Same timeline as med schools?
