what text does your school use for neuroscience/neuroanatomy?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
We use Snell, Clinical Neuroanatomy. A lot of my classmates have also purchased "Clinical Neuroanatomy made Ridiculously Simple" Goldberg. It's a little 100 page book that gives a clinically relevant overview. I'm not sure if I'm 100% in love with it, the drawings are a little crude.

This isn't the book my school uses, but I've found it very useful in studying for neurosurgery rotations.

Neuroanatomy Through Clinical Cases
Hal Blumenfeld

We use "Neuroanatomy through Clinical Cases", a book which gets high reviews, but I hated. Sure, Neuro is rather dry, so adding cases should theoretically help, but the text itself still seemed extremely dry and verbose and poorly organized to me.

I ended up reading "Textbook of Neuroanatomy" from cover to cover. IMO, 85$ for a paperback book is ridiculous, but this book is a gem for neuro. The strengths of this book are the organization, high yield notes in red throughout, clinical correlates, and very well done schematic diagrams. The pictures are not the greatest, however, so you will want to have an atlas handy. Although it seems relatively unknown, I felt it fit the needs of med students very well. I believe one of the professors is at DMU. Sample chapters are available here.
