I'm thinking about switching from predent to premed but I am concerned about one thing.

If I am still uncertain about my career path by the time I apply and I apply to both to both medical and dental programs, will the schools know that I have done so?

will they know that I took the MCAT and the DAT?

Pick one. Be Certain when you apply. You need to have clear motivations of why you are choosing either path. In your case, it seems you will take what ever comes your way.

I wouldn't completely disagree with that, but I don't have any intention for settling with the school that takes me.

I should explain further. I'm a transfer student from a community college and I'll be starting as a psychology major at Cal in fall 2009 and I plan on taking 3 years after transfer to graduate. So right now, I don't have any indication of how I will do when I apply, I just have a reasonably high community college GPA and nothing else.

I haven't chosen a career yet, put your point is noted that it would be best to choose.

So just to go back to the original question, will med/dent schools see my DAT/MCAT scores?

You gotta pick one. A friend of mine applied to both and didn't get into either, and our pre-health coordinator said that it was because he applied to both. The guy had great stats too, it wasn't like he wasn't a capable applicant. I don't know how they "knew" but it's best to just pick one. (Maybe the rejections came at the level of the pre-health committee, like a bad LOR or something, I don't know...)

And it's not about "getting in somewhere". It's about knowing what you want to do. Take a year off and do some work in both fields or something. But make a decision.

got it...thanks guys!
