So I open my mailbox today when I get home, and I find a thin envelope from UCLA. Because I haven't heard from them since July or August when I submitted my AMCAS, I pretty much figured it was a rejection. It was a secondary request. I haven't done a secondary since September! For some reason this secondary got me more excited than an acceptance at another school, which makes no sense at all. Anyway, just wanted to share my semi-good news with you all--time to dust off the old secondaries to do some cutting and pasting.

okay, i know this is the wrong place to ask and i am too lazy to search. But. Do Secondaries have a fee involved? If so, damn!

As my depleted checking account can attest to, yes, fees are involved in these mystical secondaries.

Some do, and they can be pretty steep too.

i paid from $50-$100 for all of my secondaries...but i wouldn't be surprised if there are a few schools that might be above. 🙂

I'm pretty sure that the AMCAS schools have an agreement to keep secondary fees below $100. Which is kind of nice...I guess.

I believe Mount Sinai, Georgetown, and Tulane were above $100. One of those might have been $95. All I know is that they were a rip-off.

Congrats! I didn't know UCLA was sending out secondaries this late. Their stuff can be quite long though.

Wonder which school holds the dubious record of highest secondary fee. Lowest I've seen is UWash for $35.

Thanks! I remember paying 105 for one, maybe it was Mt. Sinai, and cheapest was 25, I believe for University of Cincinnati. Today was my lucky day--I checked my email a little while after my original post and got a UCSD interview too! Now if all this translates into a CA acceptance somehow, I'll really be happy.
