Aloha everyone,
I just have a question of what to do over winter break that will be helpful to my app. I'm already going to volunteer at a soup kitchen, and I'm going to do my shadowing during the summer.

Here are my stats so far

I am only done with my first semester
cGPA- 3.375
sGPA- 3.0

20 hours shadowing a Radiologists (unfortunately, I couldn't go into the actual procedure room because I was not 18 at the time)

Think about how to raise that gpa

rekindle your old friendship with jack, jim, johnnie, and jameson

eh u think it would be wise to take 2 courses worth 6 credits in just under 3 weeks of class?

Winter classes suck. Go snowboarding. Take a girl on a date. Make some bad decisions. Its college my man, live it up!

Go to Somalia to breastfeed kids and come back and wow your interviewers.

Considering the incidence of childhood AIDS there and the fact that some kids are biters, me thinks that's a dangerous proposition!

Im going to florida to relax, then taking developmental psychology. Nothing better than completing a 3 hr class in 2 weeks 😀. Last winter break I took psychopharmachology, which was by far one of the most enjoyable classes I've taken in college.

Pre-study for Step 1 😎

lol

You should consider getting started in a research lab. This way you will have some solid publications by the time you apply to med schools. gl!

Maybe wait till sophomore year or something... freshman year should be fun!

Not sure getting an awful prereq out of the way for only two weeks work really merits an eyerole. I know it sounds bad and most likely will be, but compared to enduring that class for an entire semester it sounds pretty damn good.

So, accelerating what is taught will somehow make things easier?

I always went snowmobiling.. Multiple Acceptances!

Learn how to snowboard/ski. Forget learning anything.

Undergo caffeine detox by utilizing natural sleep...but until then <3 No-Doz.

Not quite. It's easier to stay interested for two weeks than 3 months and from what I've heard this class isn't very interesting. Also the class size usually shrinks from about 200 people to under 30, which makes learning easier. So no, accelerating the material will not make it easier but the way in which the class is taught will.

My break will consist of three things:

1.] Snowboarding/Cross country ski-ing on Mt.Hood.
2.] Sleeping
3.] EMS MARATHON!!!!

Don't worry. If he's white he's got a 10% chance of being immune.

Haha I'm not (African-American/Filipino, Double URM!), but on the subject of starting in a research lab, my school offers a class you can take that is a credited course and basically you go to a research lab of your choice and at the end I believe you write a big journal or something and you get graded on your work.

Though to take this course, you have to have cell bio as a co/pre-req so it won't look like I'll be able to take it until late sophmore/early junior year. Is there any other way I can get into a research lab?

Also, I already went to Somalia and cured ebola while instating a solid government and healthcare, so I got that part covered

i'm going to get my world ranking in Starcraft II back. my APM and mass marine strat owns everybody lol LOL

I'll be going over all the crap I forgot this semster so I can start tutoring.
