i know that this is sort of an MCAT question, but i really need the advice of DO and knowledgeable pre-DO students. I just took my last practice test (AAMC 8) last weekend and got a 25 (8 9 8). I am hearing a tone of talk about not taking if you dont feel you are fully ready. I know that i could do better with more time, however, DO is my first choice, regardless of how well (or poorly) i do, and if i can get in, i surely want to take it now. i have a 3.48 total GPA, ~3.2 science. I was a non-science major (philosophy) and have little to no experience elsewhere. i am going to central america however, for four months prior to the next application cycle and will volunteering extensively in hospitals down-there and hopefully becoming bilingual while i am it. Do i have a shot, if i plan on getting a 25 (or maybe up to a 27) or should i wait until april.
thanks so much everybody, and good luck if anyone else is taking it on SATURDAY.

I say go for it! There is no need to postpone medical school for a full year. Give the MCAT a try and things could work out great. If not, you'll be applying next year anyway. Give it a shot. A 25 and up should give you a chance if you apply broadly.

Don't stress about it! Just relax and be confident. I had a 26 on the practice test I took, and ended up with a 32. Remember that schools look for a lot more than just scores, especially DO schools.

Just give it a shot you may even surprise yourself. people say alot of things sometimes they are right and sometimes they are wrong so the only way to truely find out is by trying it yourself

If this is your first time, definately take it
If this is your second time, really think about it but I think you should go for it anyways.

Good luck!

Yeah, take it. Although unlike DaddyDoc, I was getting 31's and 32's on all of my practice tests and I got my butt handed to me on the real test, 26R.
