I'm in a bind. First of all, I live in Hawaii and flying out to the east coast costs a minimum of $800. I have an interview at Penn State late March but last week I received an invite from NYMC and they say the earliest available date they have is the 2nd week of April. They are unwilling to accomodate me. What should I do? Should I keep calling to see if they have any cancellations? What irks me is that their interview invite says that they are prepared to work with applicants to accomodate any travel restrictions. Arrrgh. Anyone with advice? Thanks!
P.S. I called Penn State and they are unwilling to reschedule my interview.

Keep calling them and let NYMC know you'll be in the east coast already and that you don't have the dough to fly out again. If not, rack up the frequent flyer miles.

I had the same problem with NYMC. If you do a search, I've gone into the story. Essentially, they sent me an e-mail. I requested a date to coordinate with my AE interview. They wouldn't accomodate me. They then sent me an e-mail saying that they would rescind the offer if I didn't schedule an interview. (I waited an extra month b/c I was waiting to hear from a couple of schools.) I finally told them that I had already been in the area twice and asked if I could coordinate with my third trip to the area. I kindly asked to speak to a higher authority and they accomodated me. Good luck, the office can be a pain, but just be persistent.

I'd tell NYMC to take a hike. Wait! I've already done that! <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" />

Seriously, keep bugging them. They were unaccomodating when I interviewed at Albany. Unlike you, though, I didn't have an invite at the time. Keep bugging both schools until you get one to bend.

I withdrew from the school. They weren't worth the effort or my time.
