I'm currently pursuing my phd in pharmacology with about one year left after this year. I'm at a stand still because I don't know what type of job I want after I graduate. I know that I don't want to do a post doc(might as well get another degree). I want to have options if that makes any sense. Initially I was gonna do pharmd/phd but I don'tknow if that will even be worth doing. I would love to stay in the south for my career. I even thought about med school or pharmacy school after Ifinish my phd but I still don't know what I wouldwant to do with those degrees. I would like to have options because I get bored with things easily.

Do some soul searching. See what interests you, do some shadowininig see if that is a life you would like. Medical school and residency will be more difficult than PHD both in amount of content over time and hours needed in terms of commitment. Once you have made up your mind come to the non-trad section and speak with Qofquimica and Bear both have Phds prior to obtaining their education , maybe they can help you along the way. Good luck.

Get a job, any job. Your first job doesn't have to be and quite frankly probably won't be your dream job. If you don't like it, look for a new one. But you picked the PhD in pharmacology so how about actually following through with it like an adult? Please don't go to med school or pharmacy school just because you can't figure out what you want to do with your life. Your program will have a much better idea of your options than some random strangers on the internet.
