So I started my applications rather late in the cycle, and just received my first interview at LECOM towards the end of Feb.

Here is my problem. I noticed that on LECOM's site, after being accepted during that time frame you have to decide within 14 days. Being that I haven't heard from approx. 12 other schools, most closer to where I want to remain, I am nervous as to what to do.

Should I call the other schools and ask what my application status is, or do I just wait and hope that as time gets closer more decisions are made?

Also, if I say that I am going to go to one school and pay the deposit, but then get in at another school, can I turn down the original and just lose the deposit or is that not how it works?

I would call all the schools to just make sure they have received all your LOR and your file is completely ready to be review.

Next, its late in the season. I would be happy to get an acceptance. At least point you may not get much else. Wanna share your stats then we can tell you more about the likelihood of more interview offers?

Edit: Yes, you pay the deposit and you can lose it with no other consequences if you choose to go to another school.

It's not a problem if you haven't been accepted yet. Getting an interview, especially this late, chances aren't that great. Of course, it's hard to tell without your credentials. You might be interviewing for a waitlist spot.

Wait until you get your first acceptance. If you still think you have a chance at another program, I would pay the deposit to hold the seat. You can always turn them down if you get accepted to your top program. Keep in mind, deposits are not refundable.
