Have my first hospitalist job interview at a location I want to be at.
They sent me the itinerary - it's a 3 hour day, meeting many different people.
What should I expect from the below titles? What questions should I be asking to each person? Will they be doing most of the talking? Are medical doctor interviews like residency application interviews or professional job interviews, or are they different?

Regional Practice Manager.
Vice president and CMO.
Executive Director.
Finance Director.
Human Resource Specialist.
A few MDs.
Manager, Hospitalist, and Post Acute Care Services.

I'm nervous, there are a lot of people I'm going to be talking with. I'm so green with the business side of medicine. Any info is appreciated. Thank you.

They will take your pulse - if present, they will offer you a contract. Good luck

Questions you should ask -

1) Is ICU open or closed?
2) Do you have to do procedures?
3) Average patient census (and add 2-3 to what they tell you)?
4) How are overnight pts distributed? Even, so everyone, regardless of census, gets same # of pts, or does everyone get "topped up" to the same number of pts? - if its the latter then people will tend to hang on to pts and then do mass d/c's on their last day
5) How long are you expected to stay in house? (Our shift ends at 6 pm but can leave any time as long as we answer pages)
6) Do you call consults yourself or is there a secretary for it?
7) Are there unit based rounds to get nurses, PT, Speech and Case Management all on the same page regarding the pts

Good luck

It's a taxing job, and if they're interviewing you, they need you.

FutureInternists post is spot on.

I would add:
Do the hospitalists admit everything? Are they private docs that admit? Do Ortho/Cards/CT surgery/Gen Surg admit certain things?
What's the relationship like between the hospitalists and the specialty groups?
What's the relationship like between the hospitalists and the ER? Though, you probably won't find many hospitalists who don't think the ER wants to admit everything?
What's the long term plan in terms of docs? Are you completing the group, or are you one of 4-5 they're hiring?
Are you going to be expected to do nights?
What's the "call"/Pager system? And do they have pagers? Our hospital texts us a number and we dial it--and it's so much less obnoxious than the beeps of a pager.
