I recieved a letter today saying I'm on the waitlist at the University of Oklahoma. They accept 150 students and have 46 on the waitlist, what are the odds I'll get in??? I'm totally new to this game, and I have no idea what to expect. Please enlighten me:)

Ok, I decided to take a stab at it. See if you agree with my estimate.

I am using the stats from Nov. 2002 from this thread...

http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=51012&highlight=applied+interviewed+accepted

Number of accepted = 177
Number enrolled = 149

Number accepted - Number enrolled = Number declining acceptances

*This approximately equals the number pulled off the waitlist. This is unscientific, but might put you at ease.*

So...

Number pulled off waitlist = 28

and

Number pulled off waitlist/Number of waitlistees = chances

Or:

chances = (28/46)*100= 60%

Not too shabby, eh?

so much stress being on the waitlist this late, can't screw off your last semester classes :D. Do they have a wait list with people ranked? Do they tell you your rank?

In the letter I recieved they said there were 46 on the waitlist, but they didn't give a numerical order.

I like your estimate SoonerMed, that helps. I guess we could also assume that everyone on the waitlist won't acccept either???
