When schools call to schedule an interview, how does it typically go? Do they give you a range of dates and ask you to get back to them within a day? Do they expect an immediate answer? I'm concerned that they'll want me to interview on a certain day and I haven't made any travel plans so I wouldn't know if that date works or not.

Also, if they call, will they leave a message? I usually don't answer calls when driving but if I have to, then I guess I'll have to make an exception.

Thanks

It depends on the school but usually they'll give you their own date and time and be like "SEE YOU THERE."
Then you respond with: "k."

Not really but something like that... lol

Usually you will get an email, I don't know of any schools that offer interviews via phone calls. Some schools will give you a set date (UF, Nova, UNE, BU are some examples) while others will give you multiple dates for you to choose from (NYU, LECOM, Marquette, MWU-AZ, etc). They will also give you a deadline to let them know whether or not you will be attending the interview, but you should have at least a week to get back to them.

this is great news. rendal--do you know if there is a thread that compiles both types of school so I can know what to expect? I'm not finding it with the search function.

That might be a little tricky. I don't think most people talk about it over SDN, unless you catch someone in the school specific threads saying "I chose the September 19th date" or something like that. Your best bet would be to ask former applicants how it worked for them when they were offered interviews. The only other school I was offered an interview to that I didn't mention in my first post is Roseman, and I believe they had multiple dates to choose from (I declined the interview so I don't know 100%, but the email said to call to schedule an interview date).

Often you'll get the call or email and sometimes they will email you with a couple different options. Othertimes they will send you a link for a closed webpage with sign ups for different dates. Depends on the school. Some schools call and ask what dates work for you.
