Well I've got about a week left before my board...I just finished reviewing all the material I was planning on using and am figuring out what I want to do with this last week. I figure I'm just going to review 1st AID like crazy, do questions, and then review some weak areas. I seem to be a little weak in biochem and micro, but I'm a little hesitant to review biochem b/c ppl say that it can be low yield (although i have heard some ppl say they had alot) and time would be better spent on something else. Just curious about what some of you other SDNers are doing your week before boards. Also you think I should spend the time on biochem or focus on other subjects instead?

I took the test today..there was a lot of biochem, neuro, and physio on my test.

All I can say is do as many questions (from various sources) as you can..the only reading that helped me in first aid was behavioral sciences!

What would you recommend for biochem?

Lippincott's is great for biochem...If you know the figures in the book then you are set. I wish that I would have spend more time on the Nitrogen Metabolism chapters..

Kaplan has the best biochem book out. However, in your last week, i would go through and find all the enzymes and make a list of them - for example, which one is the one in alkaptonuria, etc. This can easily be done with a passthrough FA once or twice. MEMORIZE the enzymes. In the end, if you can't recall this, you are screwed.

Other than that, in the last week, hit up the stuff that requires memorizing - pharm, micro, biochem...and look over only concepts you can't remember. Other than that you will be good.

good luck,
