Hello SDN,

I applied this last cycle (for matriculating year 2014) and only received one interview, which I believe I have been put on the wait list.

My stats: 3.57 sGPA and 3.5oGPA
21 AA, 20 PAT, 20 TS

I am a Texas resident, applied to the 3 Texas schools, and a good number outside including Lecom, NOVA, and Western.

I have over 100 hour shadowing, as well as a good number of EC's. I just graduated this past December as well.

I just want to see what opinions I may be able to get as to what went wrong this year.
I KNOW the main reason was my late application... I submitted my TMDSAS 9/6, and my LOR's/Transcripts did not post until mid-December. Yet for some on this site that does not seem to be an issue...

As said before, I received ONE interview late in the game, Houston - and they have yet to say it, but I am under the impression that I will be placed under the wait list.

NOVA rejected me around November before I could post my graduated grades (beforehand my grades were 3.45ish sGPA and oGPA) and the rest of the schools followed suit..

I plan on continuing to shadow another dentist for the remainder of the year. But what else do you all suggest I do in order to have a better application this year?

And yes, I am applying THE FIRST DAY this year. There were many complications this past cycle (in terms of early applying) - and if I could go back... it would be a lot different

Thanks

Applying early is a given, but why don't you call the schools you applied to and ask what you can do to improve? Your stats look fine and you should be able to land several interviews. Perhaps your PS needs some work?

Thank you for the replies.

I will definitely be calling the schools and asking how to improve my application as well
