I'm having trouble deciding esp. since I don't really know what I'm interested in and the subjects in which I am slightly interested in require classes that I kind of dread taking.

How did you guys determine what to major in? Any suggestions or advice would be helpful. Thanks!

Assuming you want to apply to med school, choose any major you like, but make sure you take the premed prereqs, which aren't a lot.

Major in something that captures your passion and allows you to explore a field that you would love to study for 4 years.

Take the pre-med requirements on the side, and you're set!

Start taking the premed requirements and a couple random classes (requirements for graduation). Find something that interests you and then run with it.

Just make sure you do not fall behind on your requirements, especially completing them pre-MCAT. Your major will not influence your medical school admissions, as long as you maintain a competitive GPA.

Sit in on a bunch of classes in fields you think you might be interested in. That way, you'll get a feel for the subjects without becoming too committed. Major in something you love (or at least, enjoy) and you'll do much better and be happier while doing it.

Pass/No pass is a good option if you're experimenting with a class that you think will be difficult but interesting, and you don't yet know if you want to pursue the topic as a major. Or you can just sit in on classes.

I kinda did like all these guys are saying.. I was taking the pre-reqs and I liked organic a lot, so I just continued the chemistry route with a biochem major. Its a tough major, but I think it is a good one to prep for medical school. That being said, if I could do it over I would probably choose a major that I could have fun learning about, rather than a practical choice. I started out taking a lot of English/literature/philosophy-type classes, and I think I would have had more fun and a better GPA if i chose a humanities major like one of those. But like I said, biochem has been good prep, especially for the MCAT. Just something to think about.

I wouldn't ask SDN this. The vast majority of people (even smart people) that go to college wanting to be doctors don't go to medical school. Not just because of getting weeded out, a lot of people just find something they like more. The only advice I'd give you is to get a major in something that you would like to do (and has jobs in the field if you're considering being a dance major) if you don't do medicine. Also don't choose a major to look good to medical school as they like diversity anyway.

If you had $50,000,000 in the bank right now what would you be doing with your life? I'd start from there. Obviously understand you somehow need to make your major profitable at some point but it's a good place to start.
