Hi,

I have the Kaplan USMLE Step 2 CK notes - the latest set. I am about to start my 3rd year and would like to know what to use to pass shelfs for each rotation and along with the step2. Should I read Kaplan for each area for now along with roatations and then use Crush closer to the step 2 or is one sufficent to cover all.

Please advise....thanks

Personally I would put aside the Step 2 stuff and focus on stuff geared toward the cores (MKSAP, Case Files, Pretest, etc) until you get through third year. Studying for the shelf exams will be useful studying toward Step 2, but I kind of doubt it works as well in reverse. But that's just my opinion.

I'm with Law2Doc. I think too much board-exam-focused study during the year is unnecessary. (But maybe I'm in the minority -- I didn't buy First Aid for Step I until the month I was studying for it). I was a big fan of Case Files for all my cores, with some supplementing. E.g., for medicine I also read selected stuff in Harrison's, for surgery I also used the ubiquitous Surgery Recall, for psych I had loads of time so I read whatever our recommended short text was.
