What is best to star on the app? Would something like being a tutor/UTA be something you should highlight? Should you highlight all shadowing experiences or just the bulky ones? If you don’t star a shadowing experience then do they count those hours? Also, if I have an experience that would spill into say August-ish, and I apply in June, can I still put that the experience would go through aug?

From the application: "After experience entry, select up to 6 as your most important to highlight on your application PDF. Choose the experiences that best reflect your background or mean the most to you. You can change your selection any time before you submit your application. After submission, you may select additional experiences as most important up to the maximum but may not remove previously-designated experiences."

You get to choose 6 experiences (categories of volunteer, EC, shadowing, research, and then 4 achievements to star. It just highlights them on the pdf. The adcoms will still see your entire application. Just choose the experiences that meant the most to you! What did you put the most hours into, what did you make the most impact with, etc.

What do you mean by four "achievements"? I did not really receive a large amount awards or grants or anything throughout college, apart from a couple scholarships.

An achievement could even be something like deans list
Is this okay to put? I feel like its reduntant. If you have a higher GPA then they'd assume that you were on Dean's list. Should I still put it?

Yes. Not all schools have the same cut-offs. Also, you would mention it once and in the description you can specify which semesters.

I just looked at my app from last year bc I couldn't remember. For my achievements, I listed scholarships, fellowships, and an award I got for a research poster. Description on the app for achievements says "list awards, honors, and publications if any". Deans list is totally fair game.

For your other q, you can include things you are currently doing (like Feb 2018-current), but can't list future events. You can update after you complete them, though. Sorry for taking forever to respond!
