Hey everyone:
Can anyone please tell me what to study for PCAT? I just started looking at pharmacy program so I'm basically lost and do not know where to start from.
Thank you in advance.

Hey,
Best of luck for the PCATs.
What you should really focus is your weakest subject. If you ace that then u should be good for other stuff. On the other hand, in new PCATs they started putting small short passage in chemistry and biology. The short passage are like 5-6 question. Either it will be in beginning or at the end. There will be a writing prompt, verbal, biology, chemistry, 15 minute break, then 6 passages, final is math.

Focus more on the sciences. Get a hold of Dr. Collins PCAT practice exams and grab the PCAT KAPLAN. I did horrible on the reading comprehension and verbal ability but I did extremely well on the sciences and math and I was able to explain my low scores on the interview.

Thank you for responding. I actually bought the Dr Collin's practice exams and the Pearson practice tests today. I was just looking at the Dr. Collin's biology section right now and it is not like a biology book where it is going through everthing. There are only 28 pages of explanation and 12 sets of tests. The fact that there is not that much of explanation makes me concerned that study from the sample tests might not be enough for the PCAT test. What do you think?
The other thing is that in the PCAT website it doesn't mention the verbal availability section but in UOFT website it says that the test has a verbal section to it. I have heard that in the newest version of PCAT there is no verbal section. Is that true?
(Sorry i know i'm asking alot of questions but I am very stressed out and want to see what works the best for me.) My GPA is 3.595 (82-83%) and I never took full load courses during my undergrad (right now I am doing my masters program). How do you see my chances of getting into uoft?

HI Sara,

I'm not sure how much this will help you but when I studied for my test I used this article on the 210 most prescribed drugs. It was not the only resource granted but it was straightforward enough to memorize in its entirety.

Good luck!

I recommend just studying biology and chemistry. The PCAT for those sections really is a comprehensive test versus a critical thinking test, although there is a little bit of critical thinking needed for the passages. For the reading and math it's all about practicing and developing the best strategy. For reading I sucked but my strategy was actively read the first 4 then answer questions then as I ran out of time I reversed it and got a little better than average. For math I just made sure to guess on the questions where I spent 20 seconds and got nowhere. Barely finished it but got an 85 somehow. Reading and math were all about speed for me but chem and bio were about knowledge. Hope this helps!

I am using Dr. Colin's packages + Pearson+ kaplan (only the bio part) to study. Do you think these are sufficient? Could you please tell me what you think is the best way to organize the essay component of the test? (Intro, ...conclusion?)
thanks
