What type of applicant is ASDOH looking for

I am interested in ASDOH and is wondering what type of applicants they are looking for. I know that they really want an applicant with good community service but how much? How are they selecting applicants?

i toured the school in 2005. very nice facility. they really are all about comm. service. i had over 150 hrs of service and they rejected me pretty quick. my service was mostly odd jobs tho. they want to see a commitment to lifetime service. if you have an ongoing gig where you provide service once or twice per week or even per month for a few years, you'll have much better chances.
they seem like a pretty good school, but their main focus is on making you a good clinician/public servant.

well, there aren't really any guidelines, the admissions lady that gave me a tour said they value commitment to lifetime service over a 4.0 gpa. maybe be a big bro/big sis for a orphan child? build houses for habitat for humanity? start a small organization that helps people? maybe try to find out what some current students did to get in. how long do you have before applying?

I am applying in May next year when i graduate from college. I did 26 hours of C. Service in high school at a nursing home Between my freshman and my junior year I worked in the pharmacy but only did community service for a day. Then during my junior year I started coaching a team. At the end of my junior year I volunteered at a hospital and a dental clinic for the poor. I am still doing those C. service till today. Im afriad the late start in those community service will affect the decision...Do you know if there is a way I can talk to one of those representatves at ASDOH? thanks

nope, just a rejection letter. i shoulda called, but didn't. they were my 5th choice.
