I'm thinking of taking calculus while applying (b/c the UC"s require it) and I want to know if it's OK to take "short" calculus as it's listed in the catalog, which is for social and life science majors, or if it's better to take regular calculus...any suggestions?

Thanks!

i have taken both type of calculuses at the university of hawaii, and in my opinion, i think its very much the same. the life sciences calculus seemed to be more about how to apply calculus into situations (lots of word problems). The general calculus seemed to be more focusses on why... for example.. why do definite integrals measure the area under a function. so its all up to you. im sure you wont be slighted by adcoms for taking the life sciences route.
