Assuming absolutely no research, a 32-34 MCAT, a 3.7-3.8 GPA and aiming for MD only, what type of ECs would one need to have a reasonable chance of getting in?

For example, how about 100 hours hospital volunteering, 6 months as EMT, 1 year TAing chemistry lab, and another 100 hours doing some other form of community service (let's say at a nursing home or something).

Would that suffice for someone with no research at all looking at an MD school? If not, please give me some idea of what kind of ECs are needed for no research applicants.

Awesome clinical experience as well as the rest of the stuff you mentioned. Research is always helpful but not absolutely necessary. I'd suggest actually working in a hospital or clinical setting and being part of the Unit Practices Council. That would get you experience researching and problem solving outside a formal "research lab."

PM me in 4 months.
I'll let you now how my cycle goes. I'm 34/3.8.
I'm a medical interpreter. Ran a sex worker education program abroad. Taught English. Worked a bit as a health educator at planned parenthood. Works at an acupuncture clinic. Owns a teeny tiny business. Avid cook.

Of course it's recommended that you do volunteering, etc. but just do things you like to do. Just because you're not doing research does not mean that you HAVE to become an EMT, or become a TA.
