What Undergrad Courses??

Sorry if this has already been asked. I am a "pre-health" (actually, a pre-pre-health 🙂 ) and can't seem to find a solid answer about which specific courses are the minimum that should be taken before taking the OAT.

Some seem to suggest that Bio I, Chem I, Ochem I and Physics I are enough, others say you need Ochem II, Physics II and even Calc and Stats.

Anyone know?

These are the classes I would recommend taking before the OAT:

Bio I and II
Gen Chem I and II
Organic Chem I (if you can take II, it would definitely help, though most stuff are from Orgo I)
Physics I and II (although most of the stuff would be from physics I)
Calculus would be good, but you don't really need it for the OAT. Definitely know algebra really really well and some trig.

You don't need to take Stats before taking OAT.

The bottom line is, the more science classes you take, the better it is. I hope this helps. 😉

I think all your pre-med classes minus physics 2 is needed..don't need calc/stat. I took all of those I listed before the OAT but to be honest Physics 2 is only 1/4 of the exam and the questions from physics 2 are very simple. I didn't learn anything in calc. in college, you just need to know your high school math for the OAT. lastly, the stats on the exam get repetitive, just study those topics on your own as presented by kaplan or whatever you use. BTW, I DO recommend Orgo 2 for the OAT..but that is just my opinion. goodluck..

I do believe that opted.org (go to "OAT information", and then "examinee guide" on the right side of the page) have listed all of the material, per subject matter, that may be tested on.
