Hi, I'm asking because I really don't know which one i would need to get into a good med school. What did you do for your bachelors degree? And how did it work out for you?

Gamer, there are plenty of posts on this in the forums. The main response you're going to get is "it doesn't matter, do what you like and do well in the prereqs." It's tried and true - SDN has its fair share of hard science majors, liberal arts majors, engineering majors, and even fine arts majors. Though many will argue a different major is an easy way to stand out.

Welcome, and rule number one of SDN: the search option is your friend. 😉

Weren't you getting an AA in pre-med studies or something?

Major in whatever you want. The major itself won't play a huge role in the admissions process, as long as you do well in your pre-reqs. What's more important is your ability to talk coherently and passionately about why you chose to pursue that particular path of study.

Okay. Thanks! I will definitely use the search option. Sorry for this thread.🙂

SDN will tell you every undergrad degree is equal to the admissions committee. What they care about is your GPA. I've heard that English and other humanities majors are slightly more likely to get accepted than science majors, but I don't know if this is true. Honestly, pick what you're most interested and make the next 4-5 years enjoyable for yourself.

Yes sir/Ma'am.
I wanted to look ahead at the bachelors degree which i will be transfering over to so i can find out what University's prereqs to follow. Thanks for the advice.

Okay. Thanks! 🙄

Gay and Lesbian studies will work. Just get mostly As.

Not sure if this was a joke or not, but my school has a minor in LGBT studies and I would think some schools have the major.

Aside from that, I agree with what everyone's said. Do what you want and what is interesting to you. I started as a bio major but I'm switching to Spanish now so I can study abroad, actually fully enjoy what I'm studying, not be completely swamped with work (though this shouldn't be a deciding factor) and learn something in depth that I won't have the chance to do in the future.

Major in something you like but you might want to rethink it (or attend an easy school) if you want to major in engineering/physics/math.

Just pick what you're interested in. You don't need to be a science major. Just take the pre-reqs you need for med school and enjoy college.
