What kind of bottoms do females wear in labs? My instruction sheet says we should wear shorts. I understand that shorts have to cover the buttock at all time. But should they be short or above the knee, or it does not matter? Can/should they be tight? Are tights appropriate in labs at all (like the ones that go below your knee)?

The ladies in my class wore shorts that came to above-knee, except if there is a religious reason not to wear shorts. The guys many times (who usually wore the basketball shorts) had to scrunch up the shorts above knee to do lots of palpation, manual tx, gait analysis, etc. So, it's preferable for shorts to be above knee. Maybe not tights, as actual skin may need to be exposed for certain activities.

I never wore shorts in lab (I'm uncomfortable in them) and instead wore loose fitting capris that could be rolled up into a short-height. Worked out well for me and many of my girl classmates! 🙂

Most of the girls in my class (myself included) wear athletic shorts for labs. Occasionally, they have asked us to bring swimsuit bottoms to wear under shorts if you weren't comfortable with some of palpation. If we were working on knees, a lot of girls will wear athletic capris/leggings and just pull them up... but when you're working on hips, our instructors prefer shorts. If we were doing labs that focused more on stretching, many of us wore compression shorts under our athletic shorts to maintain modesty/comfort.

Thanks guys! Now I have a better idea what I need to shop for🙂.

This is not a serious issue, you can wear either a short or anything else in my lab.I always wear small and tight clothes in my lab. These are comfortable for me...
