What will happen if Musk/DOGE discovers SOS d(f)??

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I doubt anything. The SOS scam is not a secret, hidden in the shadows. It's one of the cards at the base of the house of cards that Medicare is built on.

What about when they see the ABMS and all the DEI??

Or worse, LPNs because doctor salaries are so wasteful.
with similar health outcomes b/c we haven't shown how sh$tty APPs can be.

isnt this what painapplicant1 said?

elections have consequences.

I feel better about this after one of our rad techs fed her essentially normal 28 y.o. Spine films into chat GTP and came to me wondering if she had compression deformities and spondylolisthesis…
It’s the beginning.
Only thing keeping AI out is regulatory governance in medicine.

I have an idea, LOL

Eliminating the nonprofit status of hospitals

"More than half of all income by 501(c)(3) nonprofits is generated by nonprofit hospitals and healthcare firms,” says the memo. “This option would tax hospitals as ordinary for profit businesses,” resulting in $260 billion in savings over 10 years.

hopefully also eliminate regulations so physician entities can own for profit hospitals. Don’t be a massochist. They’re deregulating all other industries. Need health care also to be deregulated so we can flourish

I’m sure docs more then happy to not do PSLF then

That would be great. Would they have the cojones to do it for religious hospitals too? I sure hope so.

Thank, God. This can't happen soon enough.

But I'm not sure it makes sense to target only hospital nonprofits.

If there's a community hospital who's mission is to help its poor, underserved community and next door is a nonprofit DEI program who's mission is to make people hate each other, how do you strip nonprofit status from only the hospital?

I think you have to discard the whole concept of "nonprofit" for federal tax purposes. States can do whatever they want to benefit these organizations.

Agree with your second paragraph. It is disingenuous to pretend that hospitals are not seeking profit.

I agree that this is a matter best left to states or local communities to provide support for the very rare truly non profit hospital.

Involving the federal government is the best way to ensure a specific program is run poorly.

The nine most terrifying words in the English language are “ I’m from the government, and I’m here to help”!

I am not sure I agree. I take my non Medicaid cases to my for profit hospital where I work.
I am happy that another hospital allows me to take my Medicaid cases to that’s non profit so I can provide care to indigent
