Yadayada, your question's been answered, to the extent that I'm willing to do so. Particularly since I sense that what you really want is to argue with me about whether my perception of the situation is accurate. And I'm not interested in having that discussion with a random stranger.
Fair enough. My own view is that if you're going to accuse an entire class of people of sexism, you should back it up with some evidence, but I'll let it go.
Re: my wanting to argue, not really. I think you may have pegged me wrong. As a feminist, what I "really wanted" was a) a new perspective through which to view my own recent residency interview experience, which surprised me (as in, maybe I'm missing something) and b) the chance to join you in your righteous anger.
