Hello friends,

I just wondered if anyone had any thoughts about the decision to do my undergrad gen ed courses at a community college and then switching to a University there after? I recently came into some money and wanted to keep debt at a minimum so by paying for school at a community college for a little while would save me some cash I could use towards something else. I wonder what the admission committee would think about a year or so at a community college. Has anyone ever done this? Any advice would be helpful and as always I appreciate your help and time reading this.

Oy! Its fine, there a few (a few thousand) threads on this. For the vast majority of students, CC has little to no impact in their chances. Even JHU is now formally accepting CC credits which may finally be an acknowledgement that it is expensive to go to college and students are looking to reduce costs and reduce debts so maybe they can some day pay off their medical school loans

Thank you. Those are my thoughts exactly. I know that debt shouldn't keep someone from doing the only thing that could keep them happy but at the same time when you're a nontrad and have a family it's incredibly important to be smart financially. I just wanted to make sure the decision to do gen ed at a CC wouldn't make adcom yawn. Thank you.

You'll be fine. Just do well.
