If these were my stats:

Undergrad GPA: 3.0 (I know, weak)
Pre req GPA: 3.8-4.0 (11 classes total)
Volunteer hours: 120-150
Extracurricular: none (no time. I work full time and barely can fit in school/volunteering)
GRE: haven't taken yet (assume at least average)

If these were my stats do I have a decent shot at getting in somewhere? I plan to apply to at least 5 schools.

if you have a decent GRE score, as well as experiences in different PT settings I would say you have a fighting chance because your pre req GPA is excellent.

agreed. PR GPA is probably the greatest indicator of potential success in PT school. Get above the 50th percentile on GRE and apply (after some solid research into where your best odds are).

You definitely have a chance, you just need to research where. I've noticed that schools with a lower GPA requirement tend to also accept lower GPAs.

cool.. are LOR's going to matter much? I mean as long as they are positive they don't actually read into them too much right? I still have to get those going but I'm not applying for a while.

I think that the LORs do matter. esp at the schools that don't conduct interviews. Aside from the numbers on paper, the only other way for programs to understand who you are, are through the PS, LORs, and for those that conduct them, interviews. So in my opinion, they do matter. At places such as Temple, they have a formula that calculates all of hte aspects of a person's application and that's how they come to a conclusion as to who is accepted. I saw a while back on UWs website, though I can't find it now, a breakdown of how much everything is worth during their admission process through percentages.

Anyway, I think that the LORs do matter, and if they don't choose to read too much into them, it still doesn't hurt to have strong LORs, bc it could make a difference

You have a chance. Just get a good GRE score, good letter of intent/interest letter, and letter of rec.

So say I got an A in all 11 prerequisite courses, how do you think that would affect my overall undergrad 3.0 GPA?

It should improve your GPA!!
So....do you have your BS/BA at this point? PTCAS adds ALL your classes together to get the Overall GPA and has 11 classes that count as their prereq. GPA. Different schools will have their own variety of these plus or minus others. Here is the link http://www.ptcas.org/Coursework.html and http://www.ptcas.org/GPAs.html and http://www.ptcas.org/PTCAS_Courses_2011_12_FINAL_forApplicants.pdf

You could use their GPA conversion chart and formula to creat your own spread sheet and figure out your overall GPA. and prereqs (per school if you like) basically total quality points divided by your credits. Even if you apply to non PTCAS schools it is a good indicator as to where to start.........then check out each school for the specifics. The schools I've talked with seem to be more interested in the Sciences prereqs.......: These act as indicators or predictors as to what your aptitude / ability would be in the PT course work. If they can get past the stats and get to the applicants LORs and essay ........then they wold have some idea of a person's character and attitude. Hope this helps you on your quest!
