what would biochemistry research be listed as?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
its sorta healthcare related or would it be listed as extracurricular?

I'd list it for exactly what it is: research. To answer your question, I would consider it more extracurricular than healthcare. What I consider to be healthcare includes, but certainly not limited to, shadowing, patient care, volunteering in a hospital, etc. The only time Id consider research as healthcare is if you were working in a hospital pathology laboratory processing biopsy tissue etc.

Can you list it as "Non-Healthcare Employment"? Or is it better to list it as EC?

Were you employed as a Biochem researcher?

I initially volunteered but then received a "paid summer student" position? However, rest of my research experiences (in diabetes and ecology) are paid through student awards.

Then you could argue either way for EC vs employment, but it's not healthcare related. Ultimately, you're probably putting more effort into worrying over than needed.
Thanks so much!
