What would u pick?

ok so i just figured that i am eligible to apply to both GTOWN SMP and GTOWN GEMS.

Obvious differences:
SMP:
Masters Degree open to anyone that meets the criteria (of course ..being selected is a factor)
Its one year, and success rates are amazing in various medical schools if you do good in SMP.

GEMS:
Also one year, but from what I understand...its just a "postbacc program" with no certification or degree?? (correct?)
It has very well success rates to GUSOM if u do well in the program.

Question is....if I were to get into both, which one should I pick? To my understanding, GEMS has a better chance of putting people in GUSOM; however, probably limits admission to other med schools (not sure)

Whereas, SMP opens door for many schools (if done well in program) upon completion....

Can i get someone's opinion in which is better to pick? I really don't care for any specific schools for Medical school as long as its an US MD school.

GEMS is MUCH cheaper and WAY smaller. Boom, done. IMHO.

Yeah remember that the GEMS program isn't available to everyone, though...gotta have a disadvantaged background to apply (and they have an interview).

Definitely GEMS....if you are part of the GEMS program you are GUARANTEED acceptance as long as you maintain B average

Thank you everyone! I contacted both of the programs and they both indirectly suggested to apply to both programs so i have some sort of back up one way or the other. GEMS sounds like the better option to me.
