Hey all, I have a question/deliberation that I could use some advice on.

I've been accepted to UNE and have until 12/15 to submit my 500$ deposit to hold a seat. I have an interview at LECOM-B on 11/6 which isn't really relevant here and one at NSU on 12/3.

Should I fly down to Ft. Lauderdale for my NSU on 12/3 knowing that I probably won't have a decision from them until after my deadline at UNE? In other words, if I fly down and don't have a hasty decision I will feel compelled to submit my deposit to UNE lest I lose my seat there and probably have wasted 400-500$ flying down to Nova.

The big wild card is LECOM-B. If accepted there, it may provide me more time, i.e. after 12/15, to decide. However let's ignore that potentiality for now and assume I want to go to NSU slightly more than UNE.

I haven't interviewed at Nova, so I'm not sure how long it takes for them to make their decisions, but it couldn't hurt to call them up and ask. There's a chance they could let you know their decision before 12/15 and you would be golden. I know at Western if you are in a situation like yours with an acceptance and a deposit deadline coming up you can ask them to let you know their decision a little sooner. If you're feeling like you'd rather go to Nova over UNE it couldn't hurt to wait a little while and see if you can get that decision before the deadline. However, I do NOT think it's a good idea to give up your seat at UNE without an acceptance somewhere else. Nothing is guaranteed in this awful process, and you do not want to end up without any school to go to. Even though $500 is a lot of money, it's definitely worth it to hold a place in med school for yourself. Actually, all the schools I've gotten into require $1000-$2000 deposits, so $500 seems like a great deal to me! Good luck!

My advice is deposit at UNE and then fly to NSU-COM to interview. You might consider calling the COM and asking to move it up. Definitely never give up an acceptance. An interview gives you a good chance of admission but not a guarantee. You could talk to UNECOM and request an extension. If you can't get it deposit the 500. In the scheme of things and I know this may sound horrible but the 1,000 for the deposit and flight will be small costs, especially if you get into your top choice. FWIW after I interviewed for the BS/DO, I heard within 3 weeks of the interview.

Seems like you had a plan. Put down the $500 and go to the Nova interview.
