Any crazy/funny/outrageous stories out there about what you did to make it to an interview?

For instance, last week I sat on a delayed plane for 2 hours to then fly into a snowstorm, landing blindly on several inches of snow and ice. I then found out my flight to Omaha was cancelled and the next available flight was departing at 11:15 am the next morning. I was then forced to eat McDonald's and sleep on the floor of the Chicago O'Hare airport. Luckily the next morning, bright and early, my standby tickets on a 9 am flight were upgraded to actual tickets! I was on my way, but not before the airport changed the gate of my departure without having the decency to tell me! Luckily after running to the new gate, the plane was conviently delayed to allow me to catch my breath before boarding. After only 2 hours of sleep, no shower, and a quick superman change into my wrinkled black power suit in the Omaha airport bathroom I made it to my interview only 3 hours late! Thank you CU for being so accomodating!

Anyone got a story to add? I'm sure we could all use some laughs

lol-- can't follow that one up very well, but I did drive over 15 hours for my VCU interview... it was only supposed to be 9, but a gd semi-truck driver decided he wanted see what his rig looked like upside down... got in at midnight, i was freaking exhausted the next day for the interview... and then i had to drive right back and pull a 12-hour shift the next day...

Hey HC, I was in that interview group and remember you coming in! Wow! That's awful, but will be a great story when you get into Creighton--2 weeks, baby!!!

Haha, yeah I was definitely "the late girl who braved a snowstorm" in that group. I hope i get some points for effort!! Is it sad that I will probably hear from Creighton before I hear from Drexel (considering I interviewed there 9 1/2 weeks ago)?!?

To make it to my UTMB interview, I took the Greyhound! Yes ladies and gentleman a greyhound!...It was packed, so I was sitting for hours next to a creepy guy who told me I smelled good the whole time. :scared:

I've got a good one. My Hopkins interview was scheduled for Friday morning, so I booked a flight to leave Thursday evening.

I went to the Detroit airport at 5:30pm for a 7:30pm flight that connected to O'Hare and then Baltimore. I found out that due to thunderstorms, my flight had been delayed for an hour. Then at 8:30, I find out that the flight has been delayed another hour. Finally, at 9:30, I found out that my flight has been cancelled indefinitely.

I run through the airport to see if another plane will take me to Baltimore before the next morning--there's nothing. I even have them check if I can drive 3-4 hours to Cleveland or Chicago and take a flight out of there--no luck.

So, I drive to Baltimore....9 hours through the night with the large thunderstorm. I get to Reed Hall at 7am, get an two hours of sleep, and I'm off to the interview.

At least I had a good story to tell when my interviewer asked "Well, that's all the questions I have. Is there anything else you want me to know?" 🙂

wow man, i hope you get in at jhu after all that.

this is actually the worst nightmare i can think of happening for my interview in philly coming january. the plane gets delayed/cancelled due to snow/weather, and i have to drive at the last minute. it would take me 15 hours plus.

Wow man....that's some predicament. If I was an adcom at that place, I'd accept you on the spot.
