OK, after the interviews I call to see if I'm indeed complete, and what exactly happens next with my app. Turns out, I'm short on letter of rec, and that actually they would prefer to have 3 academic and one personal reference. So actually I'm short 2 letters of rec. 😱

Well, I email the one prof I had asked whose letter was MIA. She said since I didn't do so well (C+---bad semester, my hubby was diagnosed with type II diabetes) she wasn't sure and told me "I felt bad because of your grade, but I can still write the letter" and that she'll work on it this weekend. WTF?! I told her when I gave her all the info that the letter was supposed to be in two weeks before the interview date (i.e. before christmass!) Why didn't she say anything!

Since I need a third academic reference, I emailed one of my under grad profs and asked him for a letter (though I haven't heard back from him as of yet.)

so here's the thing: do I try to get all three academic references, or just tell my one prof (with the MIA letter of rec) to go take a flying f___? And go with the two academic LORs and one personal (which is what the school told me in the first dang place).


What would you do?

only good thing is that this school looks at all complete applicants and doesn't make final decisions until March 15, so I've still got a little time and a sliver of a chance 😳

You're probably better off not having the MIA professor's letter. If she was hesitant to write it and you got a C+ in the class, it will probably only detract from your application anyways.

Um, that part where you mention your undergraduate professor, made me a bit confused. So that current C+ professor isn't a undergrad professor? Or are they all undergrad profs?

forget the C+ professor, I mean if she can't see past the fact that crap happens, and that you still stuck through and even passed her class then she is probably not going to write you a good rec. I have classes I got B's in, slept in, and all that crap but still get good letters of recs from those teachers because they know my life, and the crap i go through to be there. I would really tell that professor you are speaking of to go sit on her thumb and rotate....first rule in letters of recs, look them straight in the eye, ask if they can give a good letter of rec, and dont leave until a def. answer is given..man i hate professors like that 😡
