What would you do?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Chill there, hard24get. I bumped it because I wanted to see what the OP actually did, not because I agreed that he should go to school. I thought he was an idiot for even considering trading his wife and CRNA gig for med school.

Cowbell raises exactly the reasons this thread pissed me off and why I regret it was bumped. Most of the posters have obviously never been married and are still thinking like teenagers. In the real world it is NOT okay to do whatever the heck you want to do without considering others and expect everything to be just great. It is a partnership. The wife in this scenario could just as easily post her story and describe her dream of staying near her dying parents and people could tell her to dump him because if he really loved her he'd stay with her and support her decision to help her parents. Just ridiculous and the numero uno thing I don't like about SDN. 👎

..the OP continues to be a CRNA...gauged this from doing a search of all posts....in my spare time , I like to sleuth...:hardy:

wasn't mad at you, just posting the rant I never posted at the time, sorry if it came off as an attack at you 😉

How wonderful that you have a woman in your life that loves you! We should all be so lucky to have love like that. It sounds like she isn't giving you an ultimatum as much as she recognizes that she will in essence be without a husband for 8 years if you go to medical school. She loves you so much that she doesn't want to be without you that long and sounds like she is trying to express this- that isn't selfish, it is being honest.

She also has a financial interest here - if you go this route, you will be LOSING 8 years of a six figure salary that you already have (lets call this ~$800K lost at a MINIMUM) plus $200K of student loan debt. That is ONE MILLION DOLLARS so you can do this. Wow.
