I recently summited my app and in the personal background section that talks about being expelled due to academic conduct I checked no because I had never been expelled. Well after I got it summitted I read the question more carefully and it mentioned probation in there as well. The problem is that I was put on probation my first term back in 1996 and then the next term I was off. Since AADSAS will not let me change it, I am stuck with a dilemna. Do I just ignore the problem and risk having them say I was dishonest or do I write each school and let them know about my mistake. The problem with the latter one is that I bring a seemingly insignificant issue to the forefront. But if I don't disclose my mistake do I risk having my application thrown out. Please, if anyone has any thoughts let me know. They will greatly be appreciated.

Write the letter and bring it to the forfront. you dont want to hide anything. being honest is the best way to deal with these problems.

You should write each school. Actually, I think that sending a note to each school about something insigificant, but negative, that happened 10+ years ago will give them a great perception of your character!

Don't put it on there if they can't find out about it. I'm sure it's on your record, though. Sorry, dude.

I'd go along with DAT_MAN on this one. If you feel it's of no consequence to your future career, leave it out. If someone asks because they see it on a transcript, tell them you had a problem with AADSAS- they will understand that- EVERYONE has some sort of problem with AADSAS. The only thing anyone looks for in transcripts is GPA. If your GPA is good, having been on probation won't matter.

If your conscience bothers you then think about all the times you've driven a car in excess of the speed limit, the weed you smoked in college, or the times you called in sick so you could hang out with friends. You're not going to mention those too, are you?
