Ok, so I had my spring break last week, and let's just say that I didn't get as much studying done as I would have liked to :meanie:. However, I have a Bio II test tomorrow. Basically, if I want to do well (and I do) I will have to pull an all-nighter tonight.

To be honest, the material isn't challenging at all, but there's a TON of stuff to know. I really don't want to stay up all night and risk burnout mid-week since I have a huge chem exam on wednesday. So there is another option: skip this exam, and it will automatically be dropped. We must take 2 of 3 exams, and our lowest/missed will not count toward our final grade.

What would you do? Should I cram all night, skip it completely, or not study and take it anyways, just to see questions that may be on the final?

I have never pulled an all-nighter and never, ever will. Can't you get a solid 3 hours of studying tonight and maybe another 1 in the morning? That ought to be enough to pull a B, right?

I wouldn't skip it in any case just because you might have to miss another exam for some reason.

You should get off SDN and study for this exam. Don't miss it and don't pull an all nighter, its counterproductive! 😎

I wish I could just study. I'm still writing notes right now and have 1.5 chapters to go 😳. It just seems kind of pointless now.

Why are you writing notes now? Didn't you go to lecture and take notes there? Or doesn't your professor have slides you can look over? The point of studying is to review, not to learn the material for the first time. Just look over the highlights in class. Most Bio classes are multiple choice tests...just read over your stuff and pick the right answer. It's right there in front of you during the test, brother. 👍

Our prof. structures his class differently. He puts up slides with random blank spaces, and basically reads them verbatim, filling in unknowns as he goes. For studying, he posts chapter objectives on our school portal, and all of the test questions come from there. I still should have done them ahead of time though.

Proper Planning Prevents Piss-Poor Performance.

Are you sure you want to be a doctor? I mean, they pull all nighters pretty routinely throughout residency and even as attendings...

Good point. I meant through college..not necessarily as a physician. My bad. 😛
