I am planning on applying this year for Medical School. I took the June 16th MCATs so do not know my scores yet. I need your advice on what you would do if you were me, where I stand right now is 3.46 science gpa and a 3.61 overall gpa. I went through a rough semester due to the loss of my grandfather and received a poor grade in pre-calc (a C), which brought my science GPA way down. I may be able to get that considered as a withdrawal. This would change my gpa to 3.63 science and 3.67 overall. This would be my third (and final) withdraw. The other two were both classes I took at a later date and got A's in both.
I am taking Calc this summer and will for sure get an A. Granted, the med schools will not see this at application time. What would you do? Take the lower gpa with only 2 withdraws or a higher gpa with 3 (which I've heard is bad) withdraws?
My adviser is telling me to go with the lower gpa assuming I did well on the MCATs. Problem is I had something happen the night before and got zero sleep so not feeling like I did too hot. Although, we almost all are critical on ourselves the days after.
Thanks for your advice!
