I'm sure many of you have thought about how you would have done differently if you were to do high school, college, or whatever it was, all over again.

So i'm starting MS1 this Fall, so i guess I'd like to hear from MS2s and up the stuff that you would probably have done differently ur previous yrs in med school, let it be studying habits, networking, or social life. Anything, little things... let it be "should've studied harder", just elaborate on how much u actually studied and how much better you would've done if u were to do it again.

thanks.

I would have studied as an undergrad so that my gpa matched my MCAT, allowing me not to be where I currently am.

Not really any regrets though.

Figured out what I wanted to do in HS so I didn't have to waste 4 years of my life.

I should have studied less and exercised more.

What about your med school year(s)?

By then I was focused. Once I got my act together, I think I did everything pretty well.

exactly the same situation.

I think the OP is trying to focus on the med school years. What would you have done differently in MS1-4?

Im currently a first year. The goal is not to make the same mistakes I made as an undergrad. So far, no regrets.

i would have studied a lot harder my first section. believe it or not i guess i underestimated how difficult med school really was. I got my act together and graduate in may and start the residency of my choice which is EM.

Nice pic

I am not actually trolling, just wondered what they meant by their statements. Two of them had mentioned they would have worked harder to get better grades so they wouldn't be where they were. The ASSumption would be that they didn't get into the osteo school of their choice or they wanted to go allo. Thanks though for the troll pic, I can't believe I actually had some of those when I was younger.

yeah i mean in osteo med school. little things that you wouldve done to make the years better.

What exactly are you implying here?

I don't think anyone is understanding what the OP is asking here. Granted, maybe *I* don't understand what the OP is saying, but here's what I THINK they're asking:

For all you MSI, MSII, MSIII, and MSIV's . . . now that you have your 20/20 Hindsight vision, is there anything you look back on and wish you'd done differently in your earlier years (MED SCHOOL years . . . not undergrad)? Be it that it would have made your life easier, more enjoyable, less stressfull . . . whatever. We all kind of go into med school totally blind, having no clue what to expect. So now that you know the system, is there anything you would change about the way you handled things ("things" being anything about your personal and/or professional life while in MED SCHOOL)?

That's just my perspective on what the OP was asking. I know you were all just waiting for Khenon to set you straight, right.

Yes. You understand what I meant. I would have studied as an undergrad so I could have been at an allo school.

Thats my preference and while Im not pissed about my situation, I don't love it either. Of course I dont usually love or hate anything.

Flame away. I could give two ****s.

yeaaaah exactly. nicely put.

Studied while originally in undergrad and not drank and smoked and ate so much...worked out more.

If I had done/not done those things, I'd probably be a Doc already...

Just curious, where did you match?

Several things:
- would have hung out with more people in my class at the beginning of the year. I started med school with a good friend of mine already there and we hung out together, so I didn't get to know people in my class as well as I would have liked.
- I would have worked out more.
- I would have not procrastinated as much when it came to studying for exams.
- I would have confessed the crush I had on a guy in my class. 😉

well more like i wouldn't have been turned down from so many good medical schools (Osteopathic and Allopathic) just because of my gpa.

do you think it's a bad idea dating classmates? you see the same ppl everyday, and if somethin screws up wouldnt it make your life miserable the whole time at the school.
