If you had a chance to do research at johns hopkins university or do volunteering/shadowing at johns hopkins university? *Given that you have similar amount of both experiences before. Similar question was asked before, but I am curious to see what people think in this context

high mcat -> research
low mcat -> volunteering

Research.

For volunteering, you can always pull the "think globally, act locally" card (if you don't live by Hopkins).

What kind of med school are you looking to attend? Some love tons of altruism, others love research

^ this is a pretty good heuristic. making research a major part of your application in conjunction with very strong GPA + very strong MCAT would attract a lot of top tiers + a good possibility of getting some nice $$$. that said though, i'd still focus on volunteering and shadowing somewhat extensively to demonstrate your altruism + service to others as well as showing you know what you're getting into

Does this still count if the majority of my research is post-graduation? I go to a small college without major research capacity so my plan was to get a research position for 2 years before applying to medical school while taking the MCAT and making some money.
