Hey everyone,

I'm a first-year dental student, and I've been putting together a blog of what I learn every day at DS. I do it mainly as a study tool for myself; I find it helps keep information fresh in my mind.

I think some of you may find it useful as you can get a good idea of what exactly is taught in dental school. I include not only teachings in sim lab courses like Intro to Operative Dentistry, but also science-based courses like Biochemistry and non-science courses like Professionalism and Ethics.

What you'll find on the blog is straight information; I do not include personal experiences and opinions. As well, all information is typed out by myself, and done so without the aid/inclusion of notes or diagrams. So please, take what I say in it with a grain of salt, and leave a comment if something doesn't make sense. I usually post up my learnings for the day around 8pm or so.

Enjoy!

Very informative blog! 👍
Even if you are not able to update routinely, we all still appreciate the effort!

It's been pretty easy to do so far, and it has definitely been beneficial for me. Odds are the posts will shrink in size over time, but I shouldn't have a problem updating on a daily basis. Any day I do miss, I'll catch up on the weekend.

This is seriously the BEST thread I have seen on the pre-dental forum.

Gives us pre-dents a view of what dental school will be like from day to day basis.

Good job and keep up the good work 👍

btw... U of Mich is my #1 pick

Thanks.

The state of Michigan is a great place to learn and practice dentistry. Lots of support from both local communities and dental organizations. Best of luck on the upcoming cycle.

Just wanted to give this topic a bump. I'm nearing 20-something entries now, so there's plenty of information to scour over at your leisure.

Hoping that reading it will help get some of you excited about the thought of getting into dental school, especially during this busy interview time. For the students who have already done some interviews, this may help pass time until December 1st rolls around!

thx i've been looking and reading similar blogs

good stuff! 👍

Great blog! Thanks for doing this. I look forward to your upcoming entries!

I've been following this blog since day one. Best ever! I'm really enjoying it. keep it up. 👍

I love this! I want to do something like this for myself. I'm still working on my undergrad but I feel like this is an amazing way to reiterate what you've learned each day. And explaining what you've learned to other people is one of the best ways to make sure that you've fully processed everything.

Keep it up, it's lovely 🙂

dental students go to school on saturday or just a late update?

- serious question.

Good catch. I take all of Friday off when class ends at 12. My fun day to unwind. So I do my entry Saturday morning.

We go Monday to Friday.

Thank you. It has been helping quite a bit; much less review needed for when exam time hits.

Also, at the end I'll have a compendium of knowledge that I'll be able to direct my future patients to if they feel inclined to want to learn a bit about their health themselves.
