Hi,

I'm looking for a good online library that will let me look up any disease and show me an image of what a typical X-ray for that condition looks like, plus a description of key radiological features of that image & disease. That's all I'm asking. 🙁

(Note by "any disease" I mean any disease for which X-ray is relevant as part of investigation).

So far I found a few okay sites, but none as comprehensive as I wanted.

For example
www.wheelessonline.com/ortho/x_ray_findings_in_rotator_cuff_tears_impingement_syndrome
is excellent in describing radiological pathological features of rotator cuff tear. Trouble is wheeless doesn't give me an X-ray image to reflect the description. Also Wheeless is orthopaedics only. I don't think it will show X-rays that are not strictly orthopaedic. Such a pity. Wheeless gives just the right amount of description I want.

Found another website,
www.fpnotebook.com/ortho/Rad/OstmyltsXry.htm
which outlined for me early and late radiological features of osteomyelitis. The description is pretty neat (a bit too brief but acceptable) but again there is no image, and also it only offers orthopaedic related X-rays. If I want to look for, for example things like, radiological (X-ray) features, with descriptions and sample images for sarcoidosis, SLE, mesothelioma, herpetic pneumonia, for example, above mentioned 2 websites won't have anything useful to offer.

Over the week I kept on going and continued to look around.
http://www.meddean.luc.edu/lumen/meded/medicine/pulmonar/cxr/atlas/cxratlas_f.htm seems pretty good with lung images but minimal descriptions.

Cleveland Clinic
http://www.clevelandclinic.org/civiceducation/xray_library/index.htm
offers an okay collection mainly of CTs, minimal X-rays, and all of them minimal descriptions.

Something like this would be excellent.
http://www.learningradiology.com/notes/bonenotes/osteomyeltispage.htm
This website has just the right amount of description, plus image, but the number of diseases covered is too few. I'd like to see ten times the number of diseases.

I've been recommended this book to use as a radiological atlas:
Anatomy in Diagnostic Imaging by Peter Fleckenstein,
which I've ordered but still I would like something electronic. Something about X-ray from head to toe, sorted by disease processes with at least one good image per disease and importantly with 5 - 10 typical radiological features in description. I need to be able to search quickly online or on my laptop by disease and have the info (image and key description) in front of me straight away. I don't mind paying to use the website, but free sounds even better.

Any suggestions please?

Thanks a lot. 😎

Agree. You almost do not need any other online source if you have access to statdx.

Alright. Thanks fun8stuff and Shark2000.
I tried to get a quick preview of statdx but it wouldn't let me without first providing credit card details (2 weeks free trial period). Nonetheless if people say it's good, I'm happy to try it.

On the other hand incidentally I found a book called Radiology Review Manual by Wolfgang Dahnert, up to 7th edition now. This book seems to meet most of my need. Very succinct and gives key radiological features to diseases. I'll try its electronic version as well.
