Whats considered applying "late"

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
According to SDN, it seems so.
I am assuming you are asking about the AMCAS.

Yes the AMCAS. I know most schools have deadlines in like october/november...So is applying in July/August Late?

Is applying in July and early august late???

Are you applying next season?

Anyway, if you are applying in the near future, here's my lesson learned from applying in August: please, please, please apply in June/July. Be as early as possible. It makes a difference.

The important thing is to get secondaries submitted early. Early primary won't do you any good if you don't submit the secondaries early. For secondaries, I would say that in general, before mid-August is early, mid-August to mid-September is average, and after mid-September is late.

It should be nobody's goal in this game to be "average." You want to be "above average" or with respect to apps, early.

On secondaries: July is early and/or on time. August starts to push it a little, but maybe you are average here (hint: don't want to be average). September is late for anybody but the superstars...October is really late, and people submitting in November is just flat out nutz.

Im doing some research for a buddy of mine.

He is taking the MCAT June 30. Basically is that going to be late for him?

Also, this question is for me, but can medical schools do interviews on fridays and saturdays? Also, can you be accepted without an interview?

No, he'll be just fine assuming he gets a score he wants to submit. With access to SDN, he can even have all his secondaries written before he receives them or his MCAT score, so the turnaround will be immediate. Submitting secondaries at the end of July is about as early as you can get, so he'll be in good shape.

It depends on the school. Some schools have specific days.

How does SDN help? So you can send in your AMCAS before the you get the MCAT score back? But the medical schools dont ask for your secondaries until they receive MCAT score right?

SDN helps because all of the prompts are posted in the school specific discussion. That way, anyone can get the essays completed and information together so they can send out the secondary immediately instead of starting it once the school sends it to them.
